We wrote about a similar story yesterday, where it’s becoming commonplace for schools to conduct background cehcks on parents who would like to volunteer at their child’s school. A Rhode Island mother who had been able to volunteer at her daughter’s pre-school many times before, had to submit to a criminal background check. Which unfortunately for the mother turned up 2 felony drug convictions from her early 20′s before her daughter was born. Original story

If your a parent that is looking to volunteer at your child’s school get ready to fork over $40 to have a criminal background check conducted before you can go and pass out cookies and juice to the kindergarden class. Schools in Nashville, TN have begun conducting background checks on [arents who would like to volunteer. In one case the school district had checked over 2000 parents with four of them coming back they should not be around children. Do you think that background checks should become standard practice in schools? Let me know below. Watch the video

Animal control officers in Clayton County, Georgia have grown fed up with the number of animals being dropped off at their facility, over the past months of June and July they recieved some 1,600 animals. So to combat the problem of having someone adopt a pet an then let that same dog or cat loose because they didn’t understand the responsiblities of taking care of a pet that size. They are instituting background checks on potential adopters and visiting their home to see if the owner’s residence would be sufficient enough to accomadate the new family member. Watch the video. What are your thoughts, let me know below.

In what has been something that many Americans have been troubled since the beginning of the recession, and it’s finding employment. However with so many workers in the workforce employers are finding it neccessary to conduct more thorough investigations into the individuals they hire. In this current economic environment many employers are being bombarded with more prospective job applicants who are vying for fewer jobs, and as a result many people are embellishing job applications and job histories. Seventy three percent of employers actively looking for employees conduct background checks on potential job canidiates as oppossed to fifty five percent using drug tests and forty percent using credit checks to determine the applicant’s character. Yet many are using a combination of all three when hiring final candiates for the job. A great write up with a lot of good facts worth reading.
